CLAVICLE FRACTURE

A clavicle fracture, commonly known as a collarbone fracture, is a frequent injury that can occur following a fall, road traffic accident, sports injury or direct trauma to the shoulder. Most fractures occur in the middle third of the clavicle, although fractures can also involve the lateral or medial third. At Dr. Harish Madrekar’s Orthopaedic Clinic, clavicle fractures are evaluated through a detailed clinical examination and appropriate X-rays to determine the location, displacement, shortening, comminution and alignment of the fracture. Treatment depends on the age of the patient ,fracture pattern, degree of displacement, shortening, skin condition, associated injuries, functional requirements and overall health of the patient. If you have sustained a collarbone injury with pain, swelling, deformity or difficulty moving the shoulder, early orthopaedic assessment is recommended to determine the appropriate treatment and ensure optimal recovery.
